StopTrik International Film Festival is dedicated to stop motion techniques of hand-made, spatial animation as puppet film, claymation, object or photography manipulation, animation of loose materials (such as salt, sand etc), pixilation, traditional cut-out and many more. The list of sub-genres could be complemented with such exceptional techniques as animation of lights, fire, yarns, threads. Artists' imagination is limitless and so we can be neither orthodox nor strict while defining the term "stop motion". The ultimate goal of this unique annual gathering is to admire and celebrate artistry of hand-made, spatial animation together with all the other drifters of the surreal, absurd or merry highways who are ready to pursue frame by frame illusion.

Mexican Scene

"The convulsive scene of Mexican animation"

We will review 100 years of Mexican animation in a brief way. We will identify its problems, successes and mistakes. We will also discover the evolution of animated art in Mexico and the incessant search for its identity to the present day.

Presented by Mr. Kropka

He is a scriptwriter for cinema, television and animation, that in recent years has been specializing in and writing about international animation. Since 2013, he has curated and organized various animation events around the world, involving festivals so different and diverse as: Etiuda & Anima, StopTrik, Animateka, Animasivo and Animafest among others. In addition, he organized a European distribution circuit for the Mexican Animasivo festival and other individual screenings in cultural centres, achieving that several festivals work together for the sake of the big passion that unites them all – animation. It is perhaps this independent and outside-the-rules spirit that made him seriously consider of founding ReAnima, first International Animated Film Festival in Bergen, Norway.
